...
Who am I?
Just who am I?
A trophy that grants its owner bragging rights, only to be compared to a shinier/grander/newer one?
An acquaintance of a closer friend?
Someone whom you would want to spend time with only when approached?
Some character from a TV sitcom?
A statistic?
Or just another human being?
...
Just tell me, who am I?
End of ramble. If you think so.

: "..."
What a tragedy.
Was told that someone will be going overseas to further her studies. Had an idea of the wheres and whats concerned.
Was told to call her to wish her luck.
Knew that she will not contact me, rather she would contact someone else in the family.
Had nothing to say to her. Aside from "Best of Luck".
On the phone, that is. The mood just isn't there.
Was about to call her when I realised I don't even have her number. Was later told that she changed it.
So I keyed in the number and pressed the 'send' button.
She had my number. Was kind of surprised. Then again there's nothing surprising since I had updated her when I got a new number.
Thus began the most insincere conversation I have ever had with any relative.
Actually, 'emotionless' is a much better description.
Tried starting a conversation to inquire about her studies and realised that I had known too much beforehand to be sincere about starting one. She didn't sound interested in having a conversation.
She asked if the 'someone else in the family' was in. Was about to reply that he will call her when he comes home but realised it is extremely inappropriate. Stumbled to find an alternative phrasing.
All in less than two minutes.
Guess a relationship between cousins can be as good as lost, just by being out of touch for a long period of time. Especially when both parties are experiencing changes in mentality and maturity during this 'long period of time'.
Not that I am mature, or anywhere near maturity.
Best of luck.

Haiz.
Got posted to SISPEC. Got into one of the more shiong coys. The first week there is, to me (who still can't do 6 pull-ups), a bit shiong. Do running activities in vest slack + pt shoes every day when other companies do so in pt vest, 2-3 times a week. And this is just the first week.
For the past week i have been frequently thinking of this question: WHY have I been posted here? Being here for me has been quite torturous due to the following reasons:

For the past week i have been frequently thinking of this question: WHY have I been posted here? Being here for me has been quite torturous due to the following reasons:
- Indicated "yes" to some survey when I was sick and, at that time, didn't have a full grasp of what life is like as a commander.
- Passed IPPT when I normally failed. Even though pull-ups have always been the concern of the commanders, it is SBJ that I am worried about the most - because I can train for pull-ups by just pulling but I can't improve my SBJ without luck. For pretty the same reason I worry about the shuttle run too.
- Outfield. Camo on and camo off. Lots of digging too.
- Very strict commanders. Can forget about going home. Especially for a toilet cleaner like me.
But now I'm starting to realise I've been lucky. Heard that those who got posted to men are still being treated like recruits. As I type this I'm chatting (online, that is) with one of my BMT section mates. Heard his training is quite shiong, the facilities are quite bad, and he (along with me) misses BMT. So, to people who have not been enlisted...
DO enjoy your BMT because, compated to many other vocations, it probably IS the best. Really.
So I think I'll just try to stay positive (btw that's my section mate's MSN nickname) and survive what will go on my way - just get it %^$*()(ing done with.-leeyongyang

Just realised that I have not updated this near-deserted blog for over 3 months. Probably for the following reasons:
1. No time.
Guess no one likes spending 48 (if you're lucky) hours doing things that do not interest you.
(And, if you're reading between the lines, yes, I do not like blogging. This brings me to the next reason...)
2. No content.
Being stuck in Tekong for more than three-quarters of the past 3 months, there's little to blog about. Especially when we already know that the Internet is constantly being screened by "up there". Blogs, in particular, are screened extensively (I guess).
BTW, if this blog is being screened by human eyes, here's what I have to say (with a wiiiide, UgLy grin): Hi.
Now that the blog has been dusted, let's go on...
Received my A-level results today (although I was 1+ hour late because I was released at 1345 hrs with a 10++kg Duffel bag, and because bus service 156 comes only once every 15-20 minutes in the afternoon). Results are not too bad. But a few blemishes almost made me a lesser being than the majority of my classmates... I think. I only asked a few friends for their results. I don't like asking others for their results, and - to some extent - I don't really care. Having said that, however, I would like to know the results of my buddies in BMT :P
Speaking of BMT, it's going to be over in, like, 5 days. BMT, in near-retrospect, has changed me a lot. BMT has allowed me to better understand myself. I've always mentioned this in my BMT reflections, but I don't think my commanders know it's because I have met a friend (a section mate in particular) who is just as inconfident and pessimistic as I was. Now many of my section mates think I am very thick-skinned - though they never said it and, as usual, it's my pessimistic side acting up again (I guess).
BMT has also witnessed how I have changed from when I was first enlisted. Doing 6 pull-ups (actually it's 5-and-a-half), completing the 2.4km run in under 12 minutes, completing the 24km route march (not without singing and cracking jokes about our platoon-mates and - not to forget - our commanders), surving field camp... All these were beyond my wildest imagination. But I managed to accomplish these - though not without picking up the bad habit of spurting vulgarities when I speak. Must be as a result of the influence of my section commander.
(By the way this is the politically incorrect and summarised version of the reflection of my BMT experience which I submitted 4 weeks ago.)

P.S. Will probably graduate from BMTC next week - though I may have make-up training after that. Guess that makes me 3 months closer to ORD...

Starting anew.
Doubt anybody reads this, but what the heck...
Decided to start all over with this blog in the midst of lots of changes since the last post (which I've deleted):
1. JC life is over.
At least I hope it's over. Have taken the 'A' levels. Not confident of results.
2. Going to NS in, like, less than 2 weeks.
Haven't made the slightest physical and mental preparations yet.
3. Switched to broadband.
Had intended to stick to dial-up until the end of the 2 years of NS. Then SingTel sent a letter saying that they are terminating their dial-up service at the end of March next year. So much for my plans. Decided to take up their offer of a 1 Mbps (which I think is much slower compared to many others' broadband connections) for a little more than $30. It's so far so good for broadband (even though i've been online for less than 2 hours). Actually I don't think it's worth it because I'm the only one at home who surfs the Net and, since I'm going for NS, I doubt I'll be online that often. To make things worse, the contract expires before ORD...
4. Printers ran out of ink (both black and colour).
Decided against buying new cartridges for now. Kudos to NS (again) and the fact that my parents seldom use the com (or should I say laptop).
5. PC crashed.
Actually it happened about half a year ago, but it still has repercussions. The printer is still functional but I can't use it because it does not have a USB port. To make things worse, I had bought a colour ink cartridge which cost close to $50. It must have expired by now.
Some things don't change, though. I doubt I'll be making new posts until ORD.

P.S. Just a note to myself: Good luck for NS :P
